Doc Johnson Celebrates 40 Year Anniversary

By on March 18, 2016

North Hollywood, CA,- Founded in 1976 by Ron Braverman, the company initially consisted of just 9 employees in a 1,500 square foot factory. Now, 40 years later, the Doc Johnson family has over 500 team members housed across multiple buildings on a campus more than 250,000 square feet, with a catalogue of over 2,000 products.

Let’s take a look at some of Doc Johnson’s key milestones along the way:
• In 1980 Doc Johnson revolutionized the market with the idea of molding the body parts of adult stars to create lifelike toys.
• In the 1990s the Original Pocket Rocket® & iVibe Rabbit™ were introduced, and have now become household names.
• 2010 saw the brand expand their factory and establish their own health grade, American made Silicone Department.
• In 2014 Doc Johnson was certified cruelty-free by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the largest animal rights organization in the world, through PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies program.

While it’s clear that the Doc Johnson brand has grown and evolved since its beginnings in 1976, an unwavering commitment to American manufacturing has been a constant theme throughout the years.
“Not only do we make over 75% of our products in America, but we also strive to create the most innovative, most pleasurable and highest-quality products on the market,” said Doc Johnson COO and Chief Creative Officer Chad Braverman. “To celebrate our 40th anniversary, we’re going to be releasing some exciting new products; some that expand upon some of our top selling brands of the past 40 years, and some that stand on their own. We also look forward to celebrating this anniversary with our partners, vendors, and customers who have played an integral role in getting us here. We have a few other tricks up our sleeves, but don’t want to give them away just yet.”
Originality and innovation have always been at the core of Doc Johnson’s business strategy and their culture of “innovation not replication” has proven to endure. The company has developed and released some of the most groundbreaking products on the market, and continues to set industry trends with developments such as 2015’s TRUSKYN™, a pure health grade silicone that emulates the feel of real skin.

It’s this forward thinking that leaves us all excited to see what the brand will come up with in the next 40 years. Whatever the future may bring, it’s safe to assume that it will feel good every step of the way.
