Doc Johnson Mystical Mushroom

The Mystical Mushroom 10 Function Vibrator is one of several styles available in the Doc Johnson Wonderland range, with each toy drawing influence from one of the main characters found in Lewis Carroll’s fantastical Alice in Wonderland tale.

We’re pretty sure this is one Wonderland adaptation Carroll would never have expected, even with his wild imagination, but there’s something about Wonderland, and the characters within it, that lends itself perfectly to being transformed into a range of sex toys. After all, one of the beautiful aspects of playing with toys is the ability to explore your fantasies and Wonderland is undoubtedly one of the most fantastical stories ever written.

Within the collection is the White Wabbit (obvious choice), Kinky Kat, Pleasurepillar, Heavenly Heart and theMystical Mushroom, which we tested. Attracted by it’s unusual, satellite-come mushroom-style head and the promise of G-Spot stimulation, when it arrived at Cliterati HQ we were very taken with it and had high-hopes.

Presented in a gorgeously illustrated box that folds open like a book, it instantly feels like you’ve discovered a magical secret. We couldn’t wait to follow it down the rabbit hole and explore all of its pleasures.

Smaller than expected, but that’s in no way a criticism, it’s a perfectly moulded mini vibrator ideal for stimulating all of your exterior erogenous zones and is made from soft silicone. Looking at it and feeling it, it’s certainly high-quality and with 10 different vibration patterns all running off one AA battery, it makes it excellent value for money.

The mushroom shaped head is great for delivering precision point stimulation as it envelopes the clitoris completely and the softness of the silicone offers flexibility and movement as you play.

Although its billed as being a G-Spot stimulator, because of it’s curved shape and protruding tip, we found using the Mystical Mushroom for deeper penetration quite uncomfortable and try as we might, didn’t manage to hit the right spot. The shape of the head is what makes it unique, but because it’s a circular, mushroom, flatter disc type shape opposed to a sphere or rounder head, it made it difficult to insert, even with lube!

However, on this exploration we discovered that it worked perfectly well for teasing the vaginal opening. The tip can enter comfortably, only a centimetre or so in, and by leaving the flared mushroom base outside it means the outer, sensitive areas around the vagina are stimulated, an erogenous zone that is often over looked with most penetrative toys or clit vibes.

Being waterproof means it’s ideal for bath or shower fun and makes it easy to clean. There are, however, patterns on the Mystical Mushroom and a seam runs around the circumference of the mushroom head meaning you really need to get into the gaps to give it a thorough clean and keep it hygienic.

Use with a water-based only lube – as it’s a silicone toy – and enjoy discovering all the pleasures Wonderland has to offer by pressing the single soft button at the end of the toy to turn it on and off and scroll through all of the modes.
