Orgasms Over Painkillers: Global ‘Menstrubation’ Study Receives 20,000 Applications

By on June 4, 2020

Australia – Leading women’s pleasure product brand, Womanizer, has joined forces with menstrual cup brand Lunette to commission a global study to analyse the scientific benefits of masturbation during menstruation.

The public appeal for registrations exceeded expectations, with the company receiving 6,000 registrations within the first 24 hours and almost 20,000 by the 31 May deadline.

More than 100 nations are represented, from Afghanistan to Uruguay, including hundreds of Australians.

The study will now randomly select 1,000 participants to take part in the study, including 100 from Australia, to take part in a three-month study.

Participants will be asked to complete a series of surveys throughout the period, and to report their experiences masturbating throughout their menstrual cycle.

Each participant will be kitted out with their own Cherry Red Womanizer Starlet and Lunette menstrual cup to conduct the study.

The global study is being guided by leading experts to ensure it meets scientific standards, including renowned psychologist and sex therapist Dr Christopher Ryan Jones.

“We know that masturbation can have different positive effects on health and general wellbeing. This includes pain relief from migraine and menstruation for example. While there are studies that casually document the benefits of masturbation for period pain, there have been no studies that are fully dedicated to this goal,” said Dr Jones.

“The Menstrubation Initiative will be the first global survey of its kind and will provide us with reliable results. Womanizer and Lunette are truly providing an incredible service by funding a much-needed study such as this.”
