The Eros Association Supports Cannabis Legalisation
Melbourne, VIC – The Eros Association, Australia’s adult industry association, supports the recent Victorian Drug Inquiry’s suggestion of a regulated cannabis market in Australia.
“It’s time we had an honest discussion about cannabis use” notes Rachel Payne, General Manager of The Eros Association, “given a third of Australians will consume cannabis in their lifetime, we should be sure they are consuming product that is regulated and safe”.
The Eros Association, which represents age-restricted retail and other facets of adults-only goods and services sector, will be holding a business networking event on the 19th of April in Melbourne for industry professionals interested in the potential legalisation of recreational cannabis.*
“We know from successes overseas that support of the business community is a crucial step toward legalisation” argues Jarryd Bartle, policy advisor for the Eros Association, “policymakers need to be able to see how a commercial, regulated cannabis sector would work in practice”.
Cannabis is legal for consumption in Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon and Washington in the US, Uruguay, Spain, Slovenia, Netherlands, Jamaica, Columbia and Chile. Canada is set to legalise recreational cannabis sales later this year.
